Good morning Emma and thank you so much for letting me stop by today.
I was the school secretary at an elementary school for twenty-one years. I always watched the little ones, Kindergarten through third grade, run into the library in the mornings before school started and look at the picture books and get in line to check them out, all very excited about the treasures they found.
Not so much with the older kids. They were rarely in the school library. They would read only what was required and then grudgingly so. Truth be told, I was the same way, a hundred years ago – LOL. I didn’t like reading and got by with only what needed to be read. I did start reading in my early twenties. Who knew you could escape to a whole other world! (Believe me, with two babies at home, escaping reality was sometimes a necessity) I missed out on so much and so are these older kids who aren’t reading.
Kids feel the same type pressures we adults feel, just in different areas. Peer pressure, bullying, grades, weekend money…and so many more. They should be able to pick up a good book and escape, even for a little while.
In today’s world we all need every advantage we can get and reading is an absolute must!
That’s my tag line… Kids and Reading – Together Again!
Most of my stories are for the middle grade ages. Your child might like my story Hike Up Devil’s Mountain if they get into stories with magic, or danger and adventure, or monsters that ooze green slime, or fire breathing dragons.

If you have a daughter, she might like A Float Down the Canal if she’s into sweet, young romance or rooting for the underdog!

My newest story is Billy Cooper’s Awesome Nightmare – The Wickware Sagas. It is the first book in the Wickware Sagas series. These stories involve kids of today (their unique sense of humor, wit, and sarcasm) coming face to face with historical legends. Not only is there plenty of adventure and humor – a touch of history is also thrown in.
IF any of you readers are interested in learning about solar, I have also written a very short story about my trip down solar lane, while building our home in rural Arizona. It is a true story and titled Solar – One Family’s Reality and it can be found, along with all my other stories at www.pennystales.com. Please stop by anytime. I love visitors!
